ABOUT US

We are a specialist retailer of watersports equipment and apparel in the UK and are owned by Sussex Watersports who are part of the MakingaSplash.co.uk group. In addition to our network of watersports websites we also operate Kayak Hire and Towable Tube rides along the Coast of Sussex via our watersports activity centres.

Our main Watersports Activity Centre is at Goring Gap in Worthing, which is situated at the foot of the South Downs and is 10 miles west of Brighton and 18 miles east of Chichester. There's a fantastic shingle / sandy beach and the water meets the highest standards for bathing water quality set down by the Environment Agency and the EU. There is also a large protected area of parkland directly adjacent to the beach where you can picnic, play ball games, and BBQ. Parking is plentiful and free all day and the climate is usually great (they don't call it "Sunny Worthing" for nothing).

This has to be one of the best family days out in Sussex and kids days out and it is relatively cheap too. Come and spend the day at the beach and enjoy the fresh air and tranquillity of kayaking, then experience the thrill of the towable tubes. Take a stroll along the beautiful coastline and then relax on the greensward while the BBQ sizzles away. If you're looking for things to do in Sussex or just one of the best days out with the kids then this has to be at the top of your list.

We will be offering Kayak Hire every weekend and will start the Towable Tube Rides on 2nd June. Normal hours are 10:00am to 18:00pm but we are governed by the tides and the weather so we reserve the right to withdraw services if the conditions are deemed unsuitable or unsafe. Kayak Hire

We use the unsinkable BIC Ouassou and BIC Bilbao sit-on-top kayaks as they offer the perfect blend of safety, stability, ease of use, and robustness. All Kayaks are brand new at the start of the season and come with matching BIC twin bladed paddles and good quality BIC backrests for your comfort and convenience.

Towable Tube Rides

We offer 1 - 4 person towables so individuals or groups can all take part and we always use Jobe Towables as they are acknowledged as being the best. Choose from the 1 man "Galaxy" tube, the 2 man "Double Trouble" tube, the 3 man "Triplet" tube, the 4 man "Alligator" tube or the awsome 4 man "Sonar" tube. For obvious reasons, only those that can swim can take part in this activity.

Safety

Safety is our number one priority here at Sussex Watersports. All of our Beach Staff are highly trained and extremely competent at their jobs and are always on hand to help. Equipment is all of the best quality and thoroughly inspected at the start of every day and before / after each hire. Towable Tow ropes are always of the correct specification and our boat is always kept in tip top condition and maintained regardless of cost. There are always 2 people on the boat, one driver and one "spotter", and our drivers are all highly experienced Ski Boat captains. Everyone is supplied and fitted with a complementary top quality 50N buoyancy aid and needless to say we are fully insured for Public Liability up to £5M.

Watersports Shop

During the Summer months our mobile watersports shop is also pitched up at Goring Gap, Worthing, West Sussex where we sell all manner of water sports equipment such as surf clothing, beach wear, and other watersports equipment. We are a Jobe Premier retailer and have great stocks of Jobe products and clothing as well as BIC Kayaks and windsurfing gear, BLOC sunglasses, plus loads of wetsuits, rash vests and buoyancy aids.

Our aim is to get as many people out on the water as possible by offering great products at genuinely affordable prices and this is how our slogan "Make a splash... without splashing out" came about.
